Thoughts

I first saw Ighby and Lemmens work at the MAC 2015 Biennale, last winter. I found their piece, The Prophets (2013), arresting in its straightforward yet subversive tone, its clear display of a methodical research process, and its use of simple materials. The exhibit, La mise au travail, expands on these qualities, and is just as exciting. I am more drawn to their installation work than their video pieces. Their work has an almost deadpan delivery -- they present economics, and science of productivity and management the way it is, exposing its inherent odd and contradictory nature, without the need to place their own critical narrative.
